FAQs
Do both I and my baby need to have the same insurance?
In most cases yes, you do both need to have the same insurance. Sometimes I can bill for part of the appointment and you can pay the rest out of pocket. In rare cases I can bill some portion to each of your insurances.
Can you guarantee my insurance will cover my appointment?
One of the things that I find most challenging in our health care system is that insurance companies will almost never promise coverage before you receive care. The lactation network and wildflower do guarantee that you will not owe anything regardless of what your insurance company pays.
Is there a co-pay?
Some Aetna plans require a co-pay or coinsurance. I will not know until I bill for your appointment if yours does. So you won’t usually see a bill for that until 4-8 weeks after our visit or call ahead to find out.
Is there a travel fee on top of what my insurance pays for?
I do not charge a travel fee for most visits. I do charge a $100 fee for the lactation network and wildflower visits more than 15 minutes from Berkeley.
What do I do if I have questions about lactation coverage?
Insurance coverage for lactation is really pieces meal, I do my best to take as many kinds of insurance as possible but that does make it complicated. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I may have the answer but you may have to call your insurance company for more information as well.
What about if I have kaiser insurance?
Unfortunately kaiser does not cover any home visits for lactation. You have to go in to their office to see a kaiser lactation consultant or pay out of pocket to see me. You are able to pay with an HSA or FSA.
